Wonderfully, actually. Had some growing pains the first few years, but
I think
most of the bugs are worked out of it now. (knock on wood)

The twin cam is balanced differently than the evo was, so it tends to jump
about
more at idle and smooths out considerably when cruising.

Lots of theories, no real evidence.

twin cam is much better off the crate.

Whatever floats yer boat...depends a lot on how you use the bike.

thunderheader works fine on my twin cam (carbed)
I've put them on efi bikes too, they turn all sorts of pretty colors.
I would say the purchase of the power commander should be #1 on your
shopping list should you go with EFI.

You will quickly find that about 95 hp, the intake module becomes the
limiting
factor for the touring efi. If you're shooting for more than that, I
would
recommend sticking with the carb or wait for the new delphi (softail) efi
to
be fitted to the touring bikes (pure speculation on my part)
EMC has a bigger bore EFI intake module as well.
Horsepower per dollar, the EFI is quite a bit more expensive, considering
the initial
outlay to buy it, the power commander, and dyno tuning to get it dialed
in,
and the intake should you go that far.
Also, HP per dollar, the twin cam has a lot more potential for performance
than the evo does.
Quite a few stroker kits on the horizon that allow you to bolt in big
inches without case modification.
