why? cartridge forks with adjustable rebound and compression, and preload
not good enough?

You will get the bike with a pair of 4 piston calipers and floating rotors.
Works exceptionally well.

The bike comes with eleven spoke mag wheels. If you pick up a bike with
laced wheels,
they're trying to pull a fast one on you.

6800 rpm coil and module after fixing the valve train to avoid floating a
valve.

The cams work very well, just the way they are.

Don't discredit the stock exhaust system just because it's 'stock'

Here's where I went with my sport.
I got the first '98 XLS that showed up at my dock fresh off the crate.
Set it up and broke it in. Put a big twin SE hi flo with the zippers extra
wide element
and a Dynojet thunderslide kit in the carb, took the center baffle plate out
of the baffles.
It ran pretty good for a sportster, I thought. That winter, I took off the
heads and cc'd
them, found the compression was actually quite a bit lower than the
advertised 10:1
I did some basic portwork, lightened and polished the valves, precise valve
job,
stacked the stock springs as much as I could. Shaved the heads to get 10:1
MCR.
Put it back together and it just about scared the crap out of me.
I ended up bouncing it off the rev limiter, so I put the 6800 module on it.
Ran up there just fine with stock springs and cam. I lightened the valve
train with
aluminum fixed length pushrods and titanium upper spring retainers courtesy
of Andrews.

I did a half hearted speed run and wound the speedo around to the needle
pointing
at the 'D' on the logo on the bottom of the face, estimate over 130 mph with
what was
essentially a stock motor, just fine tuned a bit. The handling is what
made me shut it down.
It needs more trail to go that fast. The chassis isn't designed for that.
Didn't get to do any dyno time with it, and I've been trying to convince the
new owner
to run it when he gets a chance.

oh, and I did the same thing to my bagger, except for the thunderheader.
I couldn't live with that goofy multi-articulated plumbers nightmare.
