These items are not so much mileage related, as they are -time- related.
I recommend to my customers to have the 10K done once a year, regardless if
they ride 5000 miles or 20,000 miles, repack the bearings more so if they
have a habit of riding or trailering the bike in the rain, as the grease is
waterproof,
but the races are not.
Some owners will only have the bearings repacked when mounting new tires.
Acceptable?
I guess that depends on riding habits and annual mileage.
Do it at least once a year.
