You have an adjustable pressure (AP) clutch.
It came stock with a three position ring on the clutch so that you can
adjust the 'attitude' of the spring.
The spring should be flat +/- .010"
The lightest position is 'C', mid position is 'A', strongest position is 'B'
If you're at 'B' and you're spring is convex beyond .010", then
dismantle the clutch and install one extra steel clutch plate, and start over.
If the spring is digging into the adjuster ring badly, usually do, there is a
better
unit the HD has now, it supersedes from the old PN, it's got one set of
bolt holes and comes with washers to stack up behind the bolts to adjust it.
Likely you -will- need the extra steel plate if you do this.
If you pull the derby and it smells burnt, then just buy a new set of clutch
plates and steels, soak them overnight in primary oil, and install, adjust,
enjoy.
(and hope to god your sprocket shaft isn't spinning in the left flywheel half)
((been there, bad experience))
