I think the EZ's and 'timesavers' are not necessary.
I can install a cam with any adjustable pushrod with the rockerboxes
and tappet blocks in place. It's not that hard.
For the record, I endorse the S&S chromoly pushrods. I think the price is about
$88 or so,
but they are consistently the straightest pushrods I've seen out of the box,
much better than
the SE/Crane chromoly units. They are a bit larger diameter, so I bore the
upper pushrod
tubes out where it's swaged at the top, to 5/8 inch ID.

They do have a similar personality. The specs aren't exactly identical.
These cams work nicely up to about 9.5:1 CR with the stock combustion chamber.
My shop sold EV-27's like crazy when I first got there, but there were a lot of
complaints about noisy valvetrains. We tried an SE-4, and the difference is
amazing.
The SE-4 is a lot less abusive to the valvetrain, less mechanical noise in the
top end.
For me, that translates to a more reliable motor with more longevity.
That alone sold me on the SE-4.

The SE-4 or EV-27 with a compression bump to 9.5:1, or better yet the SE heads
if you
can swing it, will yield a lot of midrange boost. Proven package.

Honest or not, we all have different opinions. I would say that whatever shop
will do the
work and stand behind it should be the one giving you advice, since they know
what they
can make perform.
