Yes, there is. The later efi ECM's will trigger the code display (diagnostic)
mode by turning on the
run-stop switch, letting the pump run and shut off, then flip it back off, then
cycle it in a similar fashion
for a total of three times in succession, then the engine light will flash out
the codes one digit at a time.
This won't work on a carbed twin cam, you need to jump two terminals in the
data connector.
Oh, don't try to start it in diagnostic mode, you'll add one more code and it
won't start.
Shut it off for a few minutes first.

My vcr picks up some sort of carrier signal from a local station and sets
itself accordingly.
Too bad it randomly decides to spit the tape out ;^(
And now my satellite (dish network) receiver turns itself on in the middle of
the night.
I guess that's what I should expect when I buy something I don't know how to
fix.
