I'll generally roll the front tire onto my lift first, it's about 2 inches high,
so a 2x4 block would
do fine, you'll lose maybe an ounce, if that.
Before you put the cable on, slide a piece of shrink wrap over the bottom crimp
after
coating it with silicone, and shrink seal it. It'll delay the inevitable crimp
leak.
