Although I'm hesitant to say so, I agree with you. The dual exhaust is an old
design that has
proven itself to be a PITA as evidenced by the frequent design changes. It's
still around because
of 'tradition'.
FWIW, my 'Y' pipe will never crack as long is it's hanging on the wall of my
garage.
