NW San Jac High Rollers Toy Run

The weather was cold overcast. The kids were warm and grateful. All in all the perfect way to spend a day.
Del (Icehouse) Compton, his friend David, Jerry Watson, Judy and Valerie (not making the cut for photographs were Lindsey and myself) started out at Einstein's for breakfast.

We then rode to the staging ground at the Lonestar Cafe on the grounds of the Northwest Mall. We joined up with Suzy and Auther, Leroy and Linda, Bert, Don, Dallas and Dee, Donald and his son Nick, and several others. It's my guess that 1000 bikes were there by the 1:00pm departure time. 290 was closed to traffic and opened to a bunch of people on motorcycles bearing gifts for children at the Boys and Girls Country Orphanage in Hockley, Texas.

Riding up 290, I was unable to see the beinning or the end of the procession. We arrived to the usual contingent of kids hanging on the fence and waving their warm greeting to us as we rode up. Hot coffee was offered and we got to the business of cheering Santa's arrival with a ton of gifts.

Put this Toy Run on your calendars for 2001. It is well run and an event that will leave you feeling good about what you did.
